Through-Wall Walk-in Combination Refrigeration and Freezer Unit

This 12’x23’ through-wall walk-in cooler freezer combo unit was custom built for an elementary school in Melbourne, Florida.

Hurricane and Saltwater Protection

Due to the proximity of the ocean, the school cafeteria required a walk-in cooler freezer combo unit that could not only withstand hurricane force winds, but also the effects of saltwater. For this purpose, we have included copper fins on the evaporator coils in both the cooler and freezer compartments, two heresite coated condenser coils, two saltwater electrical boxes, and a galvanized frame. These components are designed to help protect the unit from saltwater related damage. Polar King also gained Miami-Dade County product control approval. This means all Polar King products are designed to comply with the high-velocity hurricane zone of the Florida building code. Miami-Dade NOA No. 18-0516.05.

Custom Exterior and Paint

The exterior of this unit features a sloped roof and a custom paint job. Our client simply provided us with a paint code from a national paint manufacturer, which we matched at no additional charge.

Custom Interior and Upgraded Flooring

On the interior of the unit, we have installed two shelf mounted refrigeration systems. This will allow for more storage and easier maintenance.

Our client also elected to upgrade to 3/4’ OSB flooring and have an interior door ramp installed. This will allow easier loading and unloading as well as enable heavier products to be stored.

Additionally, we have also added a ThermaViewer which comes with two wired sensors. The ThermaViewer stores and displays a complete temperature history, automatically collecting temperatures from its sensors every few seconds, minutes or hours.

Optional Equipment

Other optional equipment on this application includes spring loaded hinges and 2-part hi-solids polyurethane paint.
