Through-Wall Walk-in Cooler Unit

Polar King custom built this 7’x14’ outdoor cooler unit for Price Elementary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The elementary school required a walk-in cooler that could be attached to their current building with an inside access point.

Custom Exterior with Parapet Walls

The exterior of this walk-in cooler features parapet walls. Customers often choose this option so that the facade of the unit will go up higher and cover the refrigeration that may be mounted on top.  This ensures that mechanical equipment located on top of the unit is hidden from view.  This outdoor walk-in cooler unit also has a custom paint job. The elementary school simply provided Polar King with a PMS color sample, which was matched at no additional charge.

Interior and Exterior Lighting

For added interior lighting, the client upgraded to two 4’ LED light fixtures. These lighting fixtures are placed in the middle of the unit to provide bright interior lighting.

On the exterior of the unit, we have added a Kason motion light switch. This motion lighting offers added security to the unit and can be disabled if needed.

Center Mount Evaporator Coil

For the outdoor walk-in cooler system, we installed a center mount evaporator coil. This gives the unit higher ceiling space, which will allow for additional cold storage.

3/4 OSB Flooring

With the need for a reinforced floor, this unit features 3/4 OSB flooring, rather than our standard flooring package. This increased floor load enables heavier products to be stored inside the unit.

Standard Equipment

Standard equipment on this application includes spring-loaded hinges, sloped roof, and Indiana approval.
