15’ x 19’ Polar King Mortuary Cooler
This 15’ x 19’ Polar King mortuary cooler was custom built for a hospital in Wisconsin to provide secure, reliable, and efficient decedent storage. Designed specifically for morgue operations, the unit combines durable construction, dependable refrigeration performance, and specialized handling equipment to support hospital staff in managing daily mortuary requirements with dignity and efficiency.
Purpose-Built for Mortuary Operations
Unlike standard cold storage applications, mortuary coolers require specialized design considerations to support safe handling, organization, and accessibility. This installation was equipped with a complete cadaver storage and transport system designed to streamline operations while maximizing storage capacity.
The unit includes four 3-tier end-loading cadaver rack systems with integrated rollers, providing organized storage for up to twelve cadaver trays. To assist with loading and unloading, the facility was also equipped with a portable mortuary scissor lift sized specifically for 30-inch trays and configured for both side and end loading applications.
Structural & Interior Upgrades
This unit was engineered for long-term performance in a demanding healthcare environment. Construction features include 4-inch insulated walls, 6-inch roof insulation, and an eight-foot interior ceiling height to maximize usable storage space.
A 48” x 79” flush-bottom entrance door with door closer provides wide, unobstructed access for mortuary equipment and transport operations. Additional protective features include vinyl swing doors, upgraded ADT kick plates, recessed magnetic locking hardware, and a durable two-part exterior paint finish.
The interior includes reinforced 3/4” OSB flooring designed to support concentrated loads associated with mortuary storage systems and transport equipment.
Refrigeration & Mechanical Systems
The coated evaporator fins help protect refrigeration components from corrosion, extending equipment life and supporting dependable performance in challenging environmental conditions.
