This walk-in freezer was custom built for a meat processing customer of ours located in Roanoke, Indiana. Our client required a very large commercial freezer with ten foot ceilings and a reinforced pallet duty floor. This through wall unit features a sloped roof to allow for rain runoff. The outdoor freezer will be installed directly on to the side of our clients existing building. A section of their exterior wall will be removed from their building and the unit will be put into place with the walk-in freezer door against the opening. This will allow access from the inside of the building. This through wall application will require installation of sidewall and roof flashing kits. Applied at the junction between the wall and sloped portion of the roof, this helps to properly divert rainwater as well as prevent moisture buildup and standing water. We’ve also installed a shelf mounted refrigeration system. Typically shelf mounted refrigeration systems are used for easy maintenance access or to gain more overhead room when placing the unit. Our client also required an extra large door for this freezer unit that could accommodate an electric pallet jack and Walkie stacker. The 72 by 82 inch door is ideal for loading and unloading pallets of products or other large items. For protection purposes, we added an aluminum diamond tread kick plate on both the inside and outside of the door. Entering the freezer unit, we have installed vinyl strip curtains on the door frames. These vinyl strip curtains add an extra layer of efficiency to the unit by reducing the amount of heat into the inside of the outdoor walk-in freezer. The pallet duty flooring is extremely durable and capable enough to hold up to 5,000 pounds per square foot. For added safety and protection, we have also added a pallet bumper guard around the interior of the unit. This is just another way to prevent damage when moving pallets or other products inside the walk in. Other standard equipment on this commercial walk-in freezer includes heated relief port, remote thermometer, and a safety release handle.
