Florida and Miami-Dade County Approval
The Florida Building Code requires certain products be tested and registered with the state of Florida through their statewide product approval system. By meeting the standards for compliance with the Florida Building Code and Miami-Dade County Product Control Approval, Polar King coolers and freezers are accepted for use in high-velocity hurricane zones. Compliance with both Florida Product Approval and Miami-Dade County building code further demonstrates the quality of the seamless construction methods used to manufacture Polar King walk-in units.

Texas and City of Houston Approval
Polar King walk-in coolers and freezers were tested and evaluated for compliance with the wind loads specified in Texas’ International Residential Code (IRC) and the International Building Code (IBC). With a specific emphasis on wind speed resistance and fire safety, this evaluation also demonstrates the quality of Polar King’s walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer units.
Additionally, units have also been certified by the City of Houston as a registered and approved fabricator. This approval indicates our facilities have been certified by a third-party agency and approved by the City of Houston.

Indiana Approval
The state of Indiana awarded the company’s line of walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers with Industrialized Building Systems (Modular)/Mobile Structures certification. This certification program, implemented by the Fire and Building Code Enforcement division, requires that each unit must be inspected at one point during construction as well as an in-plant inspection. Gaining this certification ensures Polar King units can be used in both Class I and Class II structures and further demonstrates the quality of the seamless construction methods used to manufacture Polar King walk-in units.
Polar King ISO Certifications
Polar King achieved ISO certifications 14001:2015 and 9001:2015 for environmental management and quality management.
ISO 14001: 2015, the leading environmental management standard (EMS), is earned through enhancement of environmental performance, fulfillment of compliance obligations and achievement of environmental objectives.
ISO 9001: 2015 is earned by implementing a quality management system which ensures products and services consistently meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, improve customer satisfaction, and conform to specified requirements.
NSF/ANSI 7 Standard Certification
All Polar King seamless fiberglass, outdoor walk-in coolers, and freezers meet the strict requirements needed to gain NSF/ANSI 7 Standard Certification.
As an approved standard of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), NSF/ANSI 7 contains the requirements for refrigerators and freezers that are used to store or display cold food. According to NSF International, “This Standard establishes minimum food protection and sanitation requirements for the materials, design, manufacture, construction, and performance of commercial refrigerators and freezers and their related components.”

The introduction of the Polar King outdoor walk-in freezer into the foodservice industry was the result of three generations of walk-in refrigeration technology and experience. Polar King’s fiberglass, one-piece walk-in cooler is the natural evolution of the walk-in cold storage industry from the conventional metal panel constructed unit.
